Description: One of the largest and most beautiful waterfalls on Nias Island. It is nice to visit any season because there is good water flow all year round. Seen from below this waterfall is very scenic and the river below is a good place for a picnic or a swim. It has three separate levels, in total 25 meters high. The first fall is 4 meters high and 6 meters wide with a deep plunge pool at its foot. The lower level is accessible and good for swimming. To get higher up is difficult and requires a climb.
Access: From Gunung Sitoli drive towards Alasa sub-district. After about 40 kilometers, just before Ombolata village, turn left at a large turn-off. Ask locals if unsure. Follow the road down a steep hill. The bridge is as far as you can go with a car. Walk or catch a ride on someone’s motorbike the rest of the way (2 kilometers). If you come by motorbike you can drive all the way to the waterfall. Road work was underway in late 2014 and it may be possible to drive with a car all the way in 2015.
